Restrictions on entry to the Russian Federation from a number of African states

Emergency Response Centre for preventing the import and spread of the novel coronavirus in Russia made a decision on November 28, 2021 to restrict entry to the Russian Federation for citizens from a number of African states, including South Africa, as well as from Hong Kong.

Russia will restrict entry into the country for foreign citizens from the Republic of South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Madagascar, Eswatini, Tanzania, Hong Kong, as well as for foreign citizens who have been in these African countries or Hong Kong within the last 10 days.

If the foreign citizen who has the right to apply for a Russian visa in Iceland visited one the aforementioned African countries or Hong Kong in the last 10 days the entry date of the visa to Russia can only be after these 10 days.

Application for any kind of Russian visas by the aforementioned foreign citizens has been temporarily suspended. This restriction applies also to the persons specified in paragraph 2 of the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation on March 16, 2020 No. 635-Р.
