Important visa information

  1. In accordance with the Russian legislation citizens of the Russian Federation regardless of any other citizenship they may have, must travel to Russia on their valid Russian documents only.
  2. The documents can be submitted in person or in some cases by a third party (courier service, delivery agent). Please note: visa application form should be signed and dated personally by an Applicant which is to be compared with a signature in a holder's passport.
  3. Visa processing commences only after all necessary and proper documents have been presented by an applicant and accepted by a consular officer. Presenting incomplete set of documents leads to denial of its reviewing and the documents will be returned to an applicant unprocessed.
  4. The Consular Section does not accept any documents, which have been sent by post or by fax.
  5. Visa applications cannot be accepted if a passport-holder is not present in the country where the application is submitted.
  6. The Consular officer may request any additional documents or information. Failure to present it will cause a visa denial.
  7. An applicant may be invited to the Consular Section in person to conduct an individual interview in order to discuss the details of the submitted paperwork and the planning trip to Russia. Failure to turn up for the interview will cause a visa denial.
  8. Passport must be valid within six months after visa expiry date and contain at least two blank visa designated pages. Damaged passports or passports with marks, reservations, records, erasures, corrections, torn pages are not acceptable. That may cause problems or entry refusal at customs and border control on the territory of the Russian Federation.
  9. You cannot have two valid Russian visas at the same time even in two different passports. If you want to apply for a new visa mind that your current visa must be cancelled.
  10. Applicant’s further travel plans or personal circumstances can’t affect the duration of visa issuing process.
  11. «3 working days processing» for definite type of visas is available when the Consular Section is not overloaded with applications. The faster processing is available at the Consular officer’s discretion only. In certain cases the Consular Section is entitled to consider visa applications as long as it is necessary.
  12. It is recommended not to purchase flight tickets until the Consular Section has confirmed that your visa application would be appropriately processed on time.
  13. Visas cannot be swapped or extended. If your travel plans have been changed after the visa issuing you have to re-apply for a visa anew.
  14. Visa fee cannot be refunded under no circumstances.
  15. Passports can be collected either in person upon presenting the original receipt or by a third party upon presenting the original receipt along with letter of authorization.
  16. After the visa is received it should be checked by the Applicant properly (passport number, date of birth, term of validity) and, if necessary, returned to the Consular section for corrections. The Consular section assumes no responsibility for any discrepancies in visas, which have not been brought to its attention prior to the departure from Iceland.
