Business or humanitarian Visa

A citizen of Iceland, Norway or the European Union can visit the Russian Federation for business or commercial purposes or to attend a conference, exhibition, to participate in official exchange programmes organised by twin cities using a simplified procedure. The following documents should be submitted to the consular section:

  1. Completed visa application, a national passport, one passport size photo, paid travel insurance (see points 1-4 of the General Information);
  2. One of the documents specified below in accordance with the aim of your trip to Russia.
    1. For members of official delegations who, following an official invitation shall participate in meetings, consultations, negotiations or exchange programmes, as well as in events held in Russia by intergovernmental organisations:
    2. a letter issued by a competent authority of Iceland, Norway or a Member State of the EU, or by a European institution confirming that the applicant is a member of its delegation traveling to the territory of the Russian Federation (in original or well-printed coloured copy) to participate in the aforementioned events, accompanied by a copy of the official invitation from the Russian federal or local authority, intergovernmental institution.

      A visa can be single-entry or multiple-entry (if a person is participating in official meetings, consultations, negotiations or exchange programmes, as well as in events held on the territory of the Russian Federation by intergovernmental organisations on a regular basis). Please note that visas for the persons, mentioned in the paragraph 2.1. are free of charge.

    3. For business people and representatives of business organisations:
    4. a written request from a host legal entity or company, organisation, or an office or their branches, state and local authorities of the Russian Federation or organising committees of trade and industrial exhibitions, conferences and symposia held on the territory of the Russian Federation. The document can be submitted to the Consular section in original or well-printed coloured copy and should contain the following information:

      1. for the host organisation – full title, legal address of the organisation in the Russian Federation, tax registration number;
      2. for the guest person - name, surname, date of birth, gender, citizenship, passport number, purpose and a period of the trip, number of entries.

      Important! An invitation must be signed by an authorized person and sealed with the official seal of the organisation.

      Please note that the Embassy reserves the right to check all the information contained in the invitation.

      A business visa can be one-entry or multiple-entry.

    5. For drivers conducting international cargo and passenger transportation services between the territories of the Russian Federation and Iceland in vehicles registered in the Russian Federation or in Iceland or Norway or in one of the EU Member States:
    6. A written request from the national association (union) of carriers of Iceland (in original only) providing for international road transportation, stating the purpose, duration and frequency of the tripsand containing the following information:

      1. for the organisation – full title, legal address of the organisation in Iceland, organization number;
      2. for the driver - name, surname, date of birth, gender, citizenship, passport number, purpose and a period of the trip, number of entries.

      Important! An invitation must be signed by an authorized person and sealed with the official seal of the organisation.

    7. For journalists (not for free-lance journalists), who are going to Russia to cover specific events, to obtain an interview in accordance with the employer’s task, etc. but not to work in Russia as an accredited journalist:
      1. a certificate or other document issued by an Icelandic professional organisation proving that the person concerned is a qualified journalist (in original only);
      2. a written request from the applicant’s employer stating that the purpose of the journey, specified in the document, is to carry out journalistic work (in original only) and containing the following information:
      3. for the organisation – full title, legal address of the organisation in Iceland, organization number;
      4. for the journalist - name, surname, date of birth, gender, citizenship, passport number, purpose and a period of the trip, number of entries.

      Important! An invitation must be signed by an authorized person and sealed with the official seal of the organization.

      A visa can be single-entry or multiple-entry.

    8. For persons participating in scientific, cultural and artistic activities, including university and other exchange programmes:
      1. a written request from the host organisation to participate in those activities, specified in the request (in original or well-printed coloured copy) and containing the following information:
      2. for the host organisation – full title, legal address of the organisation in the Russian Federation, tax registration number;
      3. for the guest person - name, surname, date of birth, gender, citizenship, passport number, purpose and a period of the trip, number of entries.

      Important! An invitation must be signed by an authorized person and sealed with the official seal of the organisation.

      A visa can be single-entry or multiple-entry.

      Please note that the visa for a person, mentioned in the paragraph 2.5. is free of charge, if the purpose of the trip is definitely specified in presented documents.

    9. For pupils, students, post-graduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake trips for the purposes of study or educational training, including in the framework of exchange programmes as well as other school related activities:
      1. a document, which proves that a person is a pupil, a student or a teacher. It can be a student card issued by the University or international student card or a letter from the person’s educational institution.
      2. a written request or a certificate of enrolment (in original or well-printed coloured copy) from the host university, academy, institute, college or school or certificates of the courses to be attended containing the following information:
      3. for the host organisation – full title, legal address of the organisation in the Russian Federation, tax registration number;
      4. for the guest person - name, surname, date of birth, gender, citizenship, passport number, purpose and a period of the trip, number of entries.

      Important! An invitation must be signed by an authorized person and sealed with the official seal of the organisation.

      Please note that point 2.6 only applies to a person, who is going to Russia for a short-term study, to attend courses or for a probation period. To apply for a visa to study in Russia for more than 3 months please, see point 6.2.

      A visa can be only single-entry. The visa for a person, mentioned in the paragraph 2.6. is free of charge.

    10. For participants in international sports events and persons accompanying them in a professional capacity (not for supporters or fans):
      1. a written request (in original or well-printed coloured copy) from the host organisation: competent authorities, national sport Federation of the Russian Federation or National Olympic Committee of the Russian Federation containing the following information:
      2. for the host organisation – full title, legal address of the organization in the Russian Federation, tax registration number;
      3. for the guest person - name, surname, date of birth, gender, citizenship, passport number, purpose and a period of the trip, number of entries.

      Important! An invitation must be signed by an authorized person and sealed with the official seal of the organisation.

      A visa can be single-entry or multiple-entry. Please note, that participants in international youth sports events and persons accompanying them can get visas free of charge.

    11. For participants in official exchange programmes organised by twin cities:
      1. a written request (in original or well-printed coloured copy) from the Head of Administration/Mayor of a Icelandic city confirming that the applicant is a member of its delegation traveling to the twin city on the territory of the Russian Federation, accompanied by a copy of the official invitation from the Head of Administration/Mayor of a Russian twin city.

      The visas for the persons, mentioned in the paragraph 2.8 are free of charge.
