To Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Region

Starting from October 1, 2019 the Russian Federation is introducing fast-track electronic visa to enter Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Region.

From this day forward, citizens of Austria, Andorra, Bahrain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Vatican, Hungary, Germany, Greece, Denmark,Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Qatar, Cyprus, China (including Taiwan), DPRK, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Northern Macedonia, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, Finland France, Croatia, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden, Estonia, Japan travelling to Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Region will be able to apply for a single-entry business, humanitarian or tourist e-visa on the website of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation at electronic-visa.kdmid.ru.

Electronic visa is issued free of charge upon receipt of the application by a foreign citizen, submitted electronically on the website not later than four calendar days before the intended date of entry accompanied by a digital colored photo in the form of electronic file. No other documents are required.

Electronic visa is valid for 30 days from the date of its issuance and allows its holder to stay and travel only within the territory of Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Region for up to eight days starting from the date of entry. This type of visa does not allow foreign citizens to enter other regions of the Russian Federation.

Electronic visa to enter Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Region can be used for entering and leaving the Russian Federation via the following national border checkpoints only:

  1. air border checkpoint "Pulkovo";
  2. maritime border checkpoints: "Vysotsk", "Big port of Saint Petersburg (Marine station section)", "Passenger port Saint Petersburg";
  3. automobile border checkpoints: "Ivangorod", "Torfyanovka", "Brusnitchnoe", "Svetogorsk";
  4. pedestrian border checkpoint "Ivangorod".

Entry to Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Region with electronic visa by means of railway transport is currently unavailable.

Carriers can check their passengers' valid electronic visas on electronic-visa.kdmid.ru. This website also contains information on visa verification procedure in English.

Foreign citizens are personally liable for the accuracy of their personal data provided, including exact spelling of their names and surnames as indicated in their passports. In case of full or partial inconsistency of this data with the data in the passport (citizenship, surname, name, date of birth, sex, passport number) or when providing someone elses photo, entry to the Russian Federation for such person will be forbidden, and his or her electronic visa will be cancelled, with the exception when the names of foreign citizens contain more characters (letters, symbols etc.) than it is designated by the electronic visa application format.
